Gym software that collects membership fees by UPI
CoachFit collects gym fees by UPI in two ways. Members can pay your own UPI ID directly and enter the reference, which you confirm — with no gateway fee. Or, with Razorpay connected, UPI payments are confirmed and recorded automatically. Either way the money goes straight to the gym, not to CoachFit.
Two ways to take UPI
Most Indian gym members pay by UPI, and most gyms already have a UPI ID. CoachFit gives you a choice of how to use it.
- Direct UPI: members pay your UPI ID, you confirm the payment. No gateway fee.
- Through Razorpay: UPI payments are confirmed and recorded automatically. Razorpay’s fee applies.
Direct UPI, and how the confirmation works
The member pays your UPI ID from any UPI app and enters the transaction reference in CoachFit. The payment then waits for you to confirm it — so a member cannot simply claim they paid.
Once confirmed, the membership is extended and a receipt is sent. If a payment turns out not to have arrived, you can decline it with a reason, and the member sees that the fee is still due.
This is the cheapest option, because there is no gateway in the middle taking a percentage. The trade-off is that somebody at the gym checks each payment against the bank.
Automatic UPI through Razorpay
With your Razorpay account connected, a UPI payment is confirmed by Razorpay and recorded against the member at once. Nobody checks anything by hand, and the plan is extended the moment the payment clears.
Razorpay charges its own processing fee for this, deducted before the money reaches your bank.
Which to choose
A small gym with a front desk that already checks the bank often prefers direct UPI and keeps the gateway fee. A busier gym, or one that wants members to renew at midnight without anybody awake to confirm it, usually connects Razorpay. You can switch between them.
Questions
- Is there a fee for UPI payments?
- Not for direct UPI to your own UPI ID. If you use Razorpay to confirm UPI payments automatically, Razorpay’s processing fee applies.
- Can a member say they paid when they did not?
- With direct UPI the payment waits for you to confirm it, and you can decline it. With Razorpay it is only recorded once Razorpay confirms it.
- Does the money go to CoachFit first?
- No. Either way, members pay the gym directly and CoachFit only records the payment.
- Can I switch between direct UPI and Razorpay later?
- Yes. The payment method is a setting you can change at any time.
